Welcome to a popular science seminar led by truffle researcher Christina Wedén. The Truffle Chef of the Year participates and will be presented in October.

Welcome to a popular science seminar led by truffle doctor Christina Wedén. The list of speakers is under development, this year's truffle chef who will be presented in October will talk about how they use the truffle in their food. A lot of exciting things are happening in the truffle field around the world. During the seminar, we will gain knowledge about the situation of truffles in Sweden and the rest of the world.

The seminar can be followed on site or online. We have hired a technician to be able to film and broadcast the seminar live via the tool Zoom. The number of people who can attend the seminar on site is limited. Be extra careful to enter the correct email address when you book to participate in the seminar remotely. The link will be emailed to the email address you provide.

Speakers at the seminar

Christina Wedén works at Uppsala University and holds a PhD in biology with her dissertation on Gotland truffles in 2004. Since 1997, Christina has worked with the Gotland truffle on various research questions, both in terms of genetic information and its ecology linked to cultivation. In recent years, collaborations have taken place on chemical analyses of the truffle's scent and content. In addition to her academic research, Christina runs the company Tryffikultur AB together with agronomist Lina Pettersson. Tryffikultur AB works to develop truffle cultivation in Sweden and northern Europe.

Truffle Chef of the Year 2022
"Truffle Chef of the Year" is an award that Gotland's Truffle Academy appoints annually to reward food creators who have benefited the development of the truffle industry on Gotland, e.g. by contributing to increased truffle competence in the restaurant industry, developing new truffle dishes and/or showing the possibilities of the Gotland truffle.

The jury that appoints the Truffle Chef of the Year is the board of Gotland's Truffle Academy.

The seminar will be held in the Donner House in Visby and can be viewed online.
The price for the seminar is SEK 250 on site and SEK 250 remotely.
